The Eater of Worlds is a boss in Terraria, and generally the second a player will face. Eater of Worlds is important for advancing a early stage of the game due to the fact that it is the only source of Shadow Scales. The Eater of Worlds resembles a Devourer.

Spawn[]

The Eater of Worlds can be summoned by crafting Worm Food at a Demon Altar, or by destroying three Shadow Orbs. It cannot spawn naturally like the Eye of Cthulhu, or some of the other bosses. It can only be summoned in The Corruption.

Appearance[]

The Eater of Worlds is a big worm, and like a Devourer, burrow under the ground. Its body is segmented into 1 Head, 48 Body Segments, and 1 Tail. When an internal segment is destroyed, it will split into smaller worms.

Attacks[]

The Eater of Worlds will burrow through tiles to reach the player and then attack them. Each section of it can attack separately, which means if accurate, each section can harm the player separately. To beat the boss, the player needs to kill each section.

Immunities[]

Trivia[]

  • The Eater of Worlds also has a Hardmode version: The Destroyer.
  • The EoW is the only source of Shadow Scales.
  • The Eater of Worlds has no "second stage," but it does get progressively faster as its segments are destroyed.
  • After destroying a segment somewhere in the middle between the head and the tail, it will divide into 2, causing 2 EoW, but in a divided way.
